To make a chocolate version, add 4 tablespoons of cocoa to the flour mixture or fold in 1/2 cup miniature chocolate chips to the batter.
- Sift together (2-3 times) flour and powdered sugar. Set aside.
- Beat egg whites, cream tartar and salt until stiff. Fold in sugar, vanilla, and almond flavoring.
- Then fold in the flour mixture.
- Pour into cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
