Buttermilk Biscuits

Makes about 12 biscuits.



  1. Sift dry ingredients together.
  2. Rub in shortening until mixture is crumbly. Add milk to make a soft dough.
  3. Turn out on lightly floured board or pastry cloth and knead gently for 30 seconds. Roll out 1/2 inch thick.
  4. Cut with floured biscuit cutter or sharp knife.
  5. Bake on ungreased baking sheet in hot oven (475 degrees) for 12 minutes.
