Eggs were scarce during WWII and women used miracle whip in their cakes to make them moist.
- Cream sugar and Miracle Whip together.
- Sift flour, cocoa, and soda together.
- Add flour mixture, cold water, mixing after each. Add vanilla. Pour into two greased 8 x 8 inch pans.
- Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until test done.
- Frost with chocolate icing.
